What Are The Best Days to Perform Hijama Cupping Therapy?

17th, 19th and 21st of the Islamic calendar are considered the best days for Hijama cupping therapy.

The procedure of Hijama cupping therapy helps to get rid of toxins from the body which accumulate as we age. The toxic material blocks the flow of blood. Hijama cupping alleviates the pain by increasing blood circulation and eliminating toxins from the body. Cupping also helps to reduce pain and inflammation and increases blood flow which provides relaxation and well-being to the body.

Hijama cupping therapy is a Sunnah of our beloved Prophet (P.B.U.H) as mentioned in several ahadith. When our beloved Prophet visited the Heavens on the night of Isra (Mi’raaj) the angels mentioned:

“Oh Mohammad, order your Ummah with Hijama”. Saheeh Sunan Tirmidhi (3479)

According to the Islamic point of view, the best results of Hijama cupping therapy can be experienced on the third week of the Islamic calendar known as Sunnah days for Hijama.

Why Lunar Days Are Suitable For Hijama?

Experts describe that on the lunar days when the moon is full, it has a gravitational impact on Earth. The gravity of the moon impacts Earth’s tides. The moon’s tidal effect on the earth’s water molecules makes these days more suitable for Hijama cupping therapy.

If you have ever experienced a sea sight on the full moon, the tides on the sea are higher than usual because of the moon’s gravity. 60% of the human body is water, so the moon’s gravity impacts the body strongly and the blood flows faster on the full moon, improving blood circulation and reducing inflammation.

Benefits Of Hijama On Lunar Days

  • Removes a great amount of toxins from the body
  • Improves the blood flow
  • Detoxifies the body completely
  • Forms enormous amount of healthy and nutritious blood cells
  • New blood cells expel negative energy from the body
  • Strengthens the immune system
  • Relaxes tensed muscles by reducing stress and anxiety
  • Improves sleep disorder
  • Overall wellness of mental and physical health

In his book, Abd al-Malik Ibn Habib mentioned that cupping is disliked at the start of the month and benefits are not expected until the crescent moon appears. Several scholars have debated about the particular days for cupping that nothing authentic has been reported from the Prophet (P.B.U.H) regarding specific days. A few scholars mentioned that the companions of the Prophet (P.B.U.H) performed cupping on the odd days of the month.

Ibn al Qayyim mentioned in his book that cupping is more beneficial near the third quarter of the Islamic month. Modern medicine has also proved the influence of the full moon on body fluids. The blood is agitated because of the moon’s gravity, causing the stagnated blood to move on the upper part of the skin, making it easy for the blood to exit from the body.
